Employment Status

The City has several employment opportunities, from planning and development, parks, engineering and engineering operations, public safety, public administration and finance.

When a new position is posted under Current Career Opportunities, the employment status is included. Here’s what they mean:

Regular Full-Time & Regular Part-Time Employment

As a regular full-time or regular part-time employee, you are an integral part of our municipal team. Your work supports the day-to-day operations of the City. You will enjoy a competitive compensation and benefits package, and may be eligible for a compressed work schedule. You have access to career development opportunities.

Temporary Full-Time (including Seasonal Employment)

The City regularly offers temporary full-time opportunities for short term and long term assignments, including seasonal employment opportunities, primarily in the summer months when positions such as labourers in the Engineering, Parks and Environment Department are available.

Auxiliary Employment (On-Call)

Auxiliary assignments include short term and/or on-call positions. If you are looking for flexibility and variety, consider applying to the City's clerical auxiliary pool. For auxiliary assignments, in addition to the base salary, 12% is paid in lieu of benefits. Available opportunities are posted on our Career Portal.
