Youth Week is an international celebration of youth held annually during the first week of May. It's a week of fun, interaction and celebration that builds strong connections between young people and their communities and profiles the issues, accomplishments and diversity of youth.
During Youth Week, young people organize and participate in many activities, including sporting events, musical performances, art displays, movie nights, community projects, educational displays, employment services and much more. Learn more on the BC Youth Week website.
The City also recognizes outstanding youth during Youth Week with the City’s Youth Awards ceremony! Learn more on the Youth Awards & Scholarships page.
The City is one of many communities across the Lower Mainland that hosts Youth Week, CityFest is the North Shore’s Youth Week event - a North Shore festival by Youth for Youth.
No matter the location, the idea behind it is the same: young people are important and need to be recognized in a constructive and positive manner, their contributions acknowledged and celebrated.
