Filming at The Shipyards

The City’s historic Shipyards is a unique, year-round destination with over 85,000 square feet of commercial and community amenity space. The Shipyards is a popular commercial and community space with cafes, shops and restaurants. Filming is welcome, especially in the shoulder seasons.

The Shipyards has an historic feel combined with more modern buildings, and includes many unique spaces and features:

Burrard Pier

Located at the foot of Lonsdale, the Burrard Pier (40-foot-wide, 700-foot-long) offers spectacular 360-degree unobscured views of industrial, natural and urban landscapes.

Shipbuilders' Square

Shipbuilders' Square is a large, paved plaza with a stage and an iconic yellow crane. It is a versatile space for filmmakers.

Shipyard Commons

Located in the heart of The Shipyards, the Shipyard Commons is a reconstruction of the historic Machine Shop, featuring a retractable roof and a covered space for year-round use. Home to a community splash park (summer) and an outdoor skating plaza (winter).

Cates Deck

Cates Deck is rebuilt deck nestled between Lonsdale Quay and The Polygon Gallery next to the Megabench.

Wallace Mews

Flanking the gorgeous brick façade of The Pipe Shop, this is a truly beautiful road that can be completely closed for filming.

Megabench

Spanning Cates Deck to the Foot of Lonsdale along the Spirit Trail with a waterfront backdrop, this undulating 160ft long cedar bench has proved to be a versatile location for walk and talk scenes.
