Development Permits

A Development Permit is required to guide the design, form, character, and environmental impact of a project. Several areas within the City are designated Development Permit Areas. In these areas, a Development Permit must be obtained before proceeding with new development.

Development Permit Areas apply to properties:

  • located in close proximity to a stream or creek
  • With an Accessory Coach House
  • Located in the ‘Moodyville’ precinct, 'Harbourside Waterfront' precinct, 'Harry Jerome Neighbourhood Lands’ precinct, and the 'Shipyards' precinct

If your proposal is within one of the areas above, please click on the applicable area(s) below for more details and to review the relevant guidelines.
