Social planning focuses on the people in the community. The City, working with partners and community members, work together to address social issues and build healthy communities.
The City has three main tools in this area:
- Regulate: the City uses bylaws (e.g. Official Community Plan, Zoning Bylaw) and policies to regulate land use, building and development, and to secure public benefits (e.g. affordable housing and child care).
- Invest: the City uses public funds (e.g. property taxes, fees) to provide community services, to build new public spaces and infrastructure, and to invest in the community.
- Partner & Advocate: the City works with a wide range of partners to deliver community services and programs, and advocates to seniors.
