City of North Vancouver’s Library Gets Gold for Being Green
The City of North Vancouver has received another award for its sustainability achievements. The City and its the North Vancouver City Library are pleased to announce that the City Library has been awarded LEED® Gold Certification by the Canadian Green Building Council. The City Library, designed by Diamond Schmitt Architects (Toronto) in a joint venture with CEI Architecture (Vancouver), was designed and constructed with LEED certification in mind. The Library opened its doors on September 20, 2008 and was awarded the LEED Gold certification in February 2015 after a length application process.

North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award
Lonsdale Energy Corp has been chosen as a finalist for the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce 2013 Business Excellence Awards in the category of Innovation. The awards recognize business excellence in entrepreneurship, community contribution, customer service, innovation, sustainability, youth and business leadership.
Climate and Energy Action Award
The City of North Vancouver won the Public Sector Collaboration category for the Lonsdale Energy Corporation and School District 44 Education Service Centre/Arts for Kids project, which showcases a geothermal heat pump system and recycling of surplus heat. By saving energy and reducing greenhouse gases, the project allows more of SD 44s budget to be directed towards its education mission, while allowing LEC to integrate heat recovery and geo-exchange systems into its district energy system.
The awards are organized annually by the Community Energy Association in partnership with the Province of British Columbia, Union of B.C. Municipalities, B.C. Hydro and FortisBC.
Green City Award
The City received the first-ever Green City Award for cities with a population of 25,000 to 100,000. The prestigious honour recognized the City's outstanding innovation and leadership in the area of sustainability. Sponsored by the Province of British Columbia and Union of BC Municipalities, the annual Green City Awards challenge local governments to create greener, healthier communities. The awards program provides leading-edge municipalities with funds to develop and invest in further sustainability initiatives.
