What's Happening Now

Work on the shoreline improvements and the park is anticipated to begin in 2025. For safety, the park will be fully closed during work. The upgraded park is expected to re-open summer of 2026.

Kings Mill Walk Park is a popular waterfront park located between Mackay and Mosquito creeks. The park offers stunning views across Burrard Inlet and is a key connection in the North Shore Spirit Trail. 

Kings Mill Walk Park is getting a major upgrade as part of the revitalization of the Harbourside neighbourhood and climate-resilient shoreline improvements. The newly envisioned park will feature:

  • An all-ages play zone with children’s adventure-based play areas, a fitness station that is suitable for many ages, and a public washroom. 
  • An accessible off-leash dog area with run and fetch space, a small and shy dog area, seating, shade, and lighting for year-round use.
  • An open park with a beach volleyball court, lawn area, large shade trees, picnic shelters, covered seating, and benches.
  • A new plaza at Fell Avenue that will serve as a lively entrance to the park with dynamic gathering spaces, a view deck overlooking the Burrard Inlet, and local public art.
  • Climate-resilient shoreline improvements and ecological enhancements to support diverse healthy habitats.

Kings Mill Walk Park Master Plan

With the changes to the Harbourside and Marine Drive neighbourhoods, the City has developed a comprehensive plan for Kings Mill Walk Park to renew and improve the area in response to evolving community needs and climate change. 

City Council endorsed the Kings Mill Walk Park Master Plan in February 2022. The plan was developed through a collaborative process involving the City of North Vancouver, a City Council-appointed Task Force, a consultant team, interest-holders, and engaged citizens.

Project Updates

  • In May 2024, City Council adopted a bylaw authorizing the City to borrow $4.3 million to finance the construction of Kings Mill Walk Park. To learn more, visit cnv.org/AAP. 
  • Since September 2023, the park area south of Harbourside Place has been closed to the public due to the construction of the Harbourside Waterfront Development. 
  • In February 2022, City Council endorsed the Kings Mill Walk Park Master Plan. Council also directed staff to invite Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) to help rename the park to better reflect the area. Park names will be brought forward for Council consideration.
